Stencil Treatment
Completely
exposed water resistant stencils for discharge textile, and ceramic
inks should not need an extra hardener if they are completely exposed.
Complete exposure means all the stensitizer has been crosslinked with
the emulsion achieving all the water resistance it was designed to
have.
Ulano stencil hardeners penetrate the stencil
and form an additional chemical bond with the mesh that stencil
removers cannot break. This means you should not expect to reclaim your
mesh after applying a hardener. Under exposed stencils are effected
even more than properly exposed stencils.
Hardener D - for Durability
Tech Data Sheet Product Fact Sheet MSDS
Hardener D is a liquid stencil hardener that can be used with all Ulano
water resistant stencils (including 925WR, TZ, LX-630, LX-660 AND QTX®.), but was formulated for use with
QT-DISCHARGE direct emulsion. Hardners improve durability and water resistance
by creating an additional chemical bond with the mesh. For industrial use
only.
You
should not expect to reclaim your mesh after applying a hardener.
Hardeners penetrate the stencil and form an additional chemical bond
with the mesh that stencil removers cannot break. Ulano hardeners can
be used with other textile emulsions, but will make stencil removal
more difficult and may embrittle the stencil.

INSTRUCTIONS
Step 1: APPLY HARDENER D
Wear gloves, goggles, and protective clothing. Make a stencil with QT-DISCHARGE
direct emulsion. Dry the screen and stencil. Apply Hardener D to both sides
of the screen with a soft-bristled brush, a sponge, or a work rag.
Step 2: ALLOW HARDENER D TO DRY Let Hardener D dry at room temperature,
without the use of a fan. Drying time will depend on the relative humidity,
but may take up to one hour under high humidity conditions. Thorough drying
allows time for the QT-DISCHARGE stencil to absorb the Hardener D and for
Hardener D to evaporate from the open areas of the stencil. Any remaining
Hardener D residue in open areas of the screen will usually open up after
several prints, or can be removed with solvents. OPTIONAL ADDITIONAL DRYING
TIME The water resistance of QT-DISCHARGE will be improved by allowing the
screen to dry for a full 24 hours at room temperature, ? 68º F. (20º C.).
- OPTIONAL HEAT CURING
- Drying Hardener D in heat will increase its water resistance. The higher
the heat and the longer the dwell time, the greater will be the water
resistance of the stencil. Suggested settings/dwell times: 100º F. (40º
C.) for 3 hours; 140º F. (60º C.) for 1 hour
- CAUTION
- Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Wear gloves, goggles, and protective
clothing.
- Disposal
- Hardener D can generally be washed down drains and is biodegradable
in adapted waste-water treatment facilities, but this should be verified
with a review of the Material Safety Data Sheet with local authorities.
Hardener X
Product Fact Sheet Tech Data Sheet MSDS
Hardener X is a post-exposure and processing, liquid screen stencil hardener
which improves the stencil durability of textile direct emulsions, including
925WR, TZ, LX-630, LX-660 AND QTX®. For industrial use only.
You
should not expect to reclaim your mesh after applying a hardener.
Hardeners penetrate the stencil and form an additional chemical bond
with the mesh that stencil removers cannot break. Ulano hardeners can
be used with other textile emulsions, but will make stencil removal
more difficult and may embrittle the stencil.

- 50GHARDENER D 50 gallons (189.25 liters) -Ships Hazardous
INSTRUCTIONS
Hardener X is applied to both sides of the screen with a soft bristled brush
or sponge after the stencil has been properly exposed, washed out and thoroughly
dried. Blot excess solution from the image area.
Allow the screen to cure for 24 hours at room temperature. To accelerate the
curing process, the screen can be exposed to heat, not exceeding 140 degrees
Fahrenheit (60 degrees centigrade), for one hour.
HEALTH AND SAFETY INFORMATION
Hardener X is for industrial use only and should be used only in well ventilated
areas. Avoid contact with the skin, eyes, mucous membranes, and clothing.
Hardener X may be harmful if swallowed. Wear rubber gloves and eye goggles.
Avoid contact with the skin. Wash hands promptly after use.
FIRST AID
CALL
A PHYSICIAN AT ONCE.
Eye Flush immediately with water for at least 20 minutes. External-flush
exposed areas with water for 15 minutes.
Internal Rinse mouth with bicarbonate of soda and drink large quantities of water. Do not induce vomiting.
